Our first year of activity on our Sean Connery Foundation funded Young Filmmakers Hub has completed, with the latest groups of young people finishing their short films ahead of a special screening event at Cameo Cinema.

Across the age range groups of 12 to 13 year olds, 14 to 15 year olds, and 16 to 18 year olds, 11 short films have been produced over the months.

With 53 young people taking part in the programme, a busy cinema saw the learners joined by family, friends, and invited guests to view all the films on the big screen, followed by a Q&A with each group giving their insight into their experiences on the programme, and future plans.

It was also great to hear the thoughts of programme film tutor Jonathan Payne and assistant film tutor Rachel McKinlay who have developed the young people from last June to date.

The start of YFH year two begins this week with a series of summer short courses, more fast-paced than the weekly hub during term time, learners create their films over days instead of months.
