SEE Youth are a creative committee of young people assembled from across all our programmes who advise, support and shape what we do here at Screen Education Edinburgh.
The committee exists to provide accessible and exciting opportunities which inspire young people to get involved in the art of film and film making through peer learning and community events. The aim is to create a space to explore and experience film whilst promoting and encouraging collaborative projects.
Meetings are held regularly to discuss and develop what is taught across our education programmes, upcoming events and opportunities, alongside their own activities; filmmaking projects, learning opportunities and social events, the young people feed into management meetings and strategic plans of the organisation at every stage.
In order to be eligible for SEE Youth you must have participated in a learning project with us and be aged 16-25.

Screen Education’s Young Filmmakers Drop-In
This is an initiative to provide accessible and exciting opportunities which inspire young people to get involved through peer learning, informal education and community events. The drop-in is run by SEE Youth with the support of a trained and qualified youth worker. The aim is to support the engagement of young people into filmmaking by removing both real and perceived barriers of participation in the arts.
This space is designed to allow young people aged 15-24 to meet like-minded peers in a relaxed environment.
It is open on Wednesday evenings from 5.30-8.00 and Activities include:
- A regular film club
- Masterclasses, talks and filmmaking workshops
