At Screen Education Edinburgh we pride ourselves on the standards of our teaching curriculum, which is delivered by professional filmmaking tutors fully developed in our methodology and pedagogues.
Our diverse learning and teaching models have been developed and honed over several years and are embedded within Curriculum for Excellence and GIRFEC. Qualifications are at the core of everything we do ensuring young people gain more than a participatory experience on our key programmes, but also rewarded for their learning journey through acceditation, whilst strengthening their future aspirations with recognised qualifications that aid their progression to further & higher education, and into the workplace.
Key to our approach is being fully adaptable to support different learners. Young people with low literacy levels or educational attainment are able to gain accreditation through Arts Award Explore without increased academic work, whilst more advanced learners are able to gain the BFI/Skillset NCFE Qualification; Level 2 Preparing to Work in the Film Industry or a GCSE/A Level in Moving Image Arts.
Screen Education Edinburgh became Scotland’s first Arts Award Centre for film in 2014, with delivery of the qualifications embedded across our CashBack for Creativity and Princes Trust Get Started programmes.
Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form – from fashion to digital art, film to poetry.
Offered at five different levels, young people get to:
- discover the enjoyment of creating and participating in film
- develop their creativity and leadership skills
- learn new skills and share them with others
- get to work with or experience working with filmmaking professionals
- gain experience and knowledge to progress into further education and employment
The different levels are:
