Screen Education Edinburgh is a centre of excellence for the study and production of film for young people, adult learners, communities and independent filmmakers from all backgrounds, with a passion for nurturing creativity and artistic expression, raising levels of attainment and aspiration.
We exist to develop skills, knowledge and passion in filmmaking for all, with a specific focus on nurturing those traditionally excluded from film activity, be that cinema engagement, production or representation on screen.
We operate across Edinburgh and South East Scotland, offering a range of filmmaking programmes and opportunities, including our Cashback for Creativity programme for children and young people aged 10 to 24, BFI Film Academy for young people aged 16 to 19, and Moving Image Arts A Level for young people aged 16 to 21.
Our Adult Learning programme caters for those aged 21 plus, whilst new talent and independent filmmakers benefit from our short film schemes, professional development courses, and our screening platform Write Shoot Cut.
We provide film CLPL and in class learning to school teachers and pupils, and bespoke film learning and media training projects to schools, youth and community organisations.
Our film production team produces content for public, voluntary and social enterprise sector clients, including event, corporate, training and information films, with a unique approach of young people being integrated into each production team, further developing the skills, knowledge and employability of our young learners.
We have a rich history of producing drama and documentary films focused on the lives of those from under represented communities, with the work screening on televsion, online and at film festivals, winning numerous BAFTA and film festival awards.
