Write Shoot Cut: Short Film Scheme 2018

The Write Shoot Cut Short Film Scheme endeavours to develop short films by young people aged 16 – 25 currently living in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Applications are now open for scripts or 1 page treatments for short film ideas (max. 10 mins). Shortlisted applicants will attend 3 script development sessions on 12th, 19th & 26th January, with the final scripts judged by a panel of Graham Fitzpatrick (Creative Development, SEE), Sarah Drummond (producer, LS Productions) and Irvine Welsh (author and screenwriter). From this, 3 films will be selected to be made.

No previous experience is necessary, we are looking for personal and exciting stories from anyone aged 16-25. If you have an idea, we want to hear it.

From February 2018, there will be a call for applicants wishing to be part of a film production team; with 3 separate crews creating the final 3 short films.

As part of the scheme Screen Education Edinburgh will provide all film equipment, post facilities, office space and shoot space. There is also a £700 budget for each film that will be put into production.

How to Apply

To be eligible to apply you must be 16 – 25 and living in Edinburgh and the Lothians. If you are currently enrolled in University you cannot apply to the short film scheme. You must also be able to attend the weekly sessions on Friday evenings throughout January and February.

We’re looking for either a script or a one-page treatment of a film idea. Don’t worry how developed it is, we’re just looking for a good story.
